On Saturday 26th June 2010, John Mickel made history! His number 4 Legends race car exploded, bursting into flames, having received impact from another car and being turned into the tire wall. This has never before happened in the history of the UK circuit Legends racing. John walked away with minor injuries and is thankful to be alive.

Linconshire based David Twigg who runs his own two businesses was amazed to be witness to this huge crash, having only just signed a deal with John last week as Mickel Motorsport’s newest marketing partnership. "I knew they would put on a good show for us but this was outstanding action and way beyond the call of duty!. I am just glad that John is not seriously hurt"
Alan Mickel, brother and crew chief who also lives in Lincolnshire said "It was just a spectacular expolsion that was caused when the fuel tank split open. Lets hope it never happens again".
